YKWU East: Line-up of facilitators

Whilst designing YKWU East, we asked ourselves “what does a knitter need to know about designing a collection from fibre, right up to the branding and selling?”.

Here is a sneak peek at the line-up of speakers and facilitators that will be sharing their knowledge during the six week YKWU East programme. Apply to be part of a collective of knitters and designers in this hybrid course. The course is a chance to understand how the knitwear industry operates, who are behind it, whilst learning about circular design methods from professionals like Kepler London, Knitwear Lab, AGR Knitwear, Fibreshed, and more.

On top of that, we are partnering with Anila, the co-founder of the alpaca farm and design studio Ekoalpaka, to collaborate on production - and those that make the cohort will have a go at designing and producing a piece. Below is footage from our visit to their farm last year, where Anila showed us how they nurture their alpacas, how they create digital designs using their Apex software, and how quickly they can knit a garment on a Shima Seiki machine!
