Pattern: T-shirt Yarn Side Pouch
Share

Beth Clax, Knitwear Designer and the facilitator for January’s YKWU knitting club, showed us how to turn old shirts into yarn and knit cool pouches. Inspired by her, we collected old T-shirts, received donated vintage tees and learned the best way to cut up an old T-shirts to make our own quirky side pouches. The different colourways and designs produced unique and unpredictable finished pieces, as busy shirts produced new patterns once knitted and embellishments from other areas of our tops produced creative ways to finish the bag. From bows to hanging tags for an obvious upcycled look.

The pattern is split into three sections:

  1. The best way to cut up a T-shirt to create yarn

  2. A step-by-step on how to knit

  3. Turning your T-shirt yarn into side pouch
